Tigers Year 5

Welcome to Tigers!

Year 5

You're entering Tiger Territory!

Our teacher is Mrs Harlin and our fabulous teaching assistants are

Mrs Turner-Paxton, Mrs Bradley and Mr Stirland.

Come and have a look at what we've been doing!

On Monday 7th July, some of the Tigers went to a Science workshop at The Kimberley School.

It was very interesting and great fun - we created fire!....scientifically of course!

A big thank you to Mr Sinnoll the Science Teacher; watch the slide show to see what we got up to.

On Thursday 12th June, Tigers were invited to the opening of the brand new Stag Playground in Kimberley.

Children from Hollywell were involved in the initial design process so it was great to see those ideas come to life!

We had a great time meeting the Mayor, councillors and the sponsors who made it happen

but most of all we enjoyed  'cutting the ribbon' and getting on the park itself!

We also helped to  plant a wild flower border - we took the information so we could plant similar flowers at school.

More photos can be found on the Kimberley Town Council website, and in the Nottingham Evening Post.

Tudor Tigers

We went to Donington le Heath Manor House to find out about life in a Tudor household.  It was great fun!

Captain Mortimer told us about life as a Tudor soldier on the Bosworth battlefield.

He was very funny but we also learned a lot about weaponry and battle tactics before having a go ourselves.

As part of our Tudor topic we designed and built Tudor houses.

And these are the finished products, aren't they fantastic?!

We studied the work of Tudor playwright William Shakespeare.

Our focus was A Midsummer Night's Dream.  We thoroughly enjoyed it!

We went into our woods to re-enact extracts of scenes we created in our writing teams...

some 'Oscar winning' performances shone through!

We also found the time for our residential visit to Beaumanor.  It was awesome!
